Problem: Hotline's client is OK, but there are some things they forgot. Plus, there are some things that it would be nice to be able to change. How to do that...?
Solution: Make your own! Run HotStuff. Enter login information, and off you go!
HotStuff is actually a demonstration of the HotSocket socket class. HotSocket has almost 100% support of hotline 1.2.3 and 1.5 operations. HotStuff itself does not implement them all. I leave this up to you! Have fun!
Some of the neato things that ARE implemented:
Ñ╩downloads WITH RESUME
Ñ╩uploads (though unstable, compiler is not yet finished...)
Ñ╩userlists WITH ICONS and COLORED NICKS
Ñ╩folder listings HIERARCHICAL, with ALL REALBASIC ICONS too!
Ñ╩"gag" any user(s) that are bothering you, mutes PM's and chat also
Ñ╩ignore all PMs when you're busy
Ñ╩notify you when admins login or go active
and much much more!
Important Note: REALbasic is not able to read/set comments or stream resource forks by itself, and requires a plug-in written by Jim IV of REALbasic CafÄ. (Jim has released this plugin to the public domain) To compile this program, you will need to do the following:
Ñ╩open the folder containing the compiler. If it's on a locked volume (such as a CD) you will need to copy it to an unlocked volume
Ñ copy the "plugins" folder to the same folder the compiler is in. If there is already a "plugins" folder there, just copy the plugin that is in the folder over to the other folder, to avoid losing any existing plugins you may have already placed there.
Ñ╩quit and restart the compiler if it was already running
Still having problems? Make sure when you double-clicked this program that it actually ran the compiler on the unlocked volume. It should be hilighted dark-ish grey indicating it is in use. If not, quit the compiler you ran, and drag the comment nuker sourcecode onto the compiler to force it to run.
This program was made with REALbasic, and tested to compile well under all 2.0 developer's releases. If you have any problems, feel free to email me and I'll do what I can to help you.
